Students of the Instant

It's just that I didn't know.

I didn't know it was so easy to apologize, while I was busy defending a useless pride. I didn't know I could stop talking, while I believed what I thought was real. I didn't know that assuming I knew was my worst ignorance.

All I had to do was breathe when something pressed on my chest. All I had to do was stand firm when I wanted to run from something. All I had to do was let life go on, without forcing my whims and needs on it.

And when I relax, nothing weighs. When I see that the sensations that make up my world are only sensations and not the world, I see more clearly. When I accept the storms that come without judging them, I can choose my actions in harmony.

And still, I don't know.
