Though the World Be Flat, the Earth Is Round

Open your eyes and look at the sky. There are still multicolored birds warbling happily. There are majestic white beings that paint for you whatever image crosses your mind. There are golden stars twinkling their greetings from the infinite. There is a father sun from which life springs.

Now narrow your eyes and land. The Earth is down here. Without the Earth, the sky would have nothing to rest on. Without the Earth, there would be no human forms calling themselves I. Without Mother Earth, not even the Christ child would exist.

The gaze is easily distracted by the spam flashing through the air. When attention has not yet matured into a solid trunk, its fruit is carried off by any mischievous breeze. Look, you're not looking anymore. You got distracted.

How spiritual do you consider yourself? To what heights of heaven do you want to rise? What do you hope to find up there?

How material are your actions? In a gesture as simple as using a napkin, do you forget that you are mud, jungle, branches, worms and rot? How flat is your world?

Well, look: you are just one cell in this resplendent womb of life. Already fertilized by the father, it is germinating into millions of particles that, surprised to exist, innocently fantasize that a magical Creator made a universe exclusively for them, the pinnacle of evolution.

Look, you are no one. You are the Earth. And to the Earth you shall return.
