Here I Go

Excuse me, obtuse destiny, I'm going to challenge you. I'm grateful for your relentless designs, but I want to decide for myself the outcome of my actions.

Forgive me, twisted psychology, but it's my time to grow. The child you give me is tender and innocent, but my back now straightens from my own life force.

Thank you, beloved mind, I will go beyond your limits. You taught me to love myself so much that I will use you according to the will of my heart.

I want to give thanks for the purity of that heart in every breath it gives me. I want to let go of everything and give myself over to lighting each of my steps. I want to open the door of my soul and raise a song of praise to the beauty of my skies.

Keep shining, flourishing sun. Point out the steps I left marked, faltering but steady. Show me the paths that lie before me, so I may keep searching in them for the heartbeat of the moon.

I pass through the scent of gardenias and lilies, greeting hardworking bees and cheering on restless butterflies. Nor do I linger by the rivers, nor do the ocean waves keep me from holding my course. I don't rest during the night, nor do the rays of the day blind me.

I don't ask the gods for mercy, for they are my friends. Together we stole the divine fire that makes us equals, together we ate the fruit of life that makes us free.

I am nobody. And that doesn't take away my right to smile in whatever shape and color I, nobody, choose from my eternal and radiant sovereignty.

Stay behind, stale shyness, I leave you with the laments of self-pity and the clumsy weeping of a clouded throat and an evasive gaze.

I have my eyes to appreciate, I have my hands to build, and behold, my spirit roars with joy at crossing every possible universe until reaching the one in which I am alive.

Stop, endless passing of time, I don't need your promises. My pure heart is already here, present.
