Two ingredients: Sensitivity and strength.
Because the sage does not know; the sage savors.
Sensitivity opens the sage to feeling life.
But the sensitive being does not burst into tears.
Does not get swept away by what they feel.
Nor do they resist it.
Because what they feel does not matter to them.
Because they do not matter to themselves.
This is the strength of the sage.
It is not self-protection, resistance or absence.
It is not disdain, madness or some silly happiness.
The main course is called attentive equanimity.
All of consciousness, to be sharp and attentive.
The sharp, attentive being savors the reality of their feeling.
All of strength, to be sober and even-minded.
The sober, even-minded being easily digests their feeling.
More sensitive each time, stronger each time.
This is the recipe for wisdom.
