Trusting...

Because perhaps you obey that call to trust that has been imposed on you, and you leap blindly even though deep down you know circumstances will not take you where you intend. How far could empty words propel you? What reasons have you obeyed to place falsehoods like self-esteem, faith and success above the honesty of your heart?

Because that is how you lean on your concept of God, to whom, looking upward, you plead for mercy and rescue from your miseries. How far away is this invisible savior who, since that Sabbath, seems to still be resting? How far away are you, who won't show your face to stand up for your own reasons?

Because perhaps then you doubt, you drop to your knees, defeated by a cruel world you came into only to be lashed by fate. What is life worth to you, when all you do is complain about or resign yourself to the whims of that wind tossing you about like a dry leaf adrift in the desert?

Because, confused, you may no longer know what to do, since you have stopped believing in a force outside yourself, and yet you don't feel you have the power to carry yourself to where the burning of your desires so longs to go. How hard is it to move through this jungle of predators to reach that warm, cozy home you have dreamed of since they took your mother's breast away?

For what is trusting, if not knowing that you have nothing to do with the situations that happen to the person you say you are? Storm, sun, abysses, mountains, cornfields, hells, clouds, stars, deserts. It doesn't matter what happens to you, for it is not to you that any of this happens. God is not so far away; God is you yourself. What is there to worry about? Fear, failure, the cruelty of the world upon the character you have invented while you perceive existence?

What other option? What other joy? What other truth?
Smile: Whatever happens, you exist.
