Grandmother Said
Listen, my little ones.
Walk straight and behave yourselves.
But listen. This command I give you is not an imposition.
Do not take goodness as the way your life ought to be.
Otherwise goodness would at once be reduced to a mental image straining to impose itself on the present, even above you yourselves.
Every attempt to breathe in your life would be conditioned by that screen, and it would block your freedom to exist entirely.
And yet, I wish you well.
My prayer is that you live your existence just as your sacred and sovereign heart dictates.
And yes, hearts need to break sometimes, to be reborn. A healthy heart is born from the womb to feel hunger, pain, joy, and the just and deserved results of erring as it freely chooses to.
Yes, err and sin as best you can.
But always watch over your own good.
I mean, love life. Love yourselves, for you are life. Recognize that you are the love of life that exists before any decision to love.
My longing for good is the same one that blazes within you. This is how life carries itself on under its so very personal law of evolution.
So too, my ancestral inheritance as matriarch exercises the will to keep from you any darkness whose life impulse opposes yours in the most basic terms of the law of the jungle.
Behave yourselves.
Obey no law, not even that of the jungle
Your heart knows what is good for you. Which includes erring, and also correcting, and carrying on, and shining, and fully enjoying your fleeting breath.
Believe in nothing.
What is law cannot be broken. The rest is not law.
Religions are fine to begin with, but when, soon and naturally, the instinct to seek the breast gives way, you will land firmly enough to transcend the political spectacle, the wars, and the hunger as well.
Learn from betrayals. Not to distrust, but to train yourselves as warriors against the predatory critters that dwell within us.
And if anyone asks you to do evil, walk away. I will not scold you if you lack the character to do it; I will only sound the organismic alarm to survive in the face of an enemy you are being both accomplice and victim to.
Behaving yourselves means remaining unconditionally where you already are, at the center of who you are, in your essential nature of life.
You need to heed only once in your life, for you only live once.
May your Father bless you, my little ones. May your majesty always flower in its fullest splendor.
