Life Is a Dream
Life is a dream. And this is not a figurative, metaphorical or philosophical expression. It is a literal truth, more real than anything that could happen in this dream that is life.
When you dream that you are living without knowing that you are dreaming, any of the many anythings that could happen in this dream may happen at random. You are the victim of your own dream, victim of the world, a dry leaf adrift on fickle winds. And the simple reason this thing happens in this dream is that you believe this dream is real.
Lives, characters, stories, experiences, times, societies, systems, universes, planets, topics, wild animals, extinctions, revolutions, falls, awakenings. Everything is a dream. Nothing exists unless you are dreaming that it exists. Even if it does not exist, it is because you are dreaming that it does not exist. And when you are asleep, forgetful of your dream, your life is a chaos of anything at all, and you will believe anything at all.
Waking up is not to stop dreaming. If you stopped dreaming, in what reality would the one who woke up exist? See, waking up is another dream, so to stop dreaming means not being able to dream that you are waking up. The dream is eternal, for if it ever happened to stop, there would have to be a dream in which the dream has stopped.
Waking up is the happening, within the dream, of knowing that you are dreaming. Knowing that nothing is real, not even the dreamer. Waking up is knowing that you are not real, that you do not really exist, for there is not even a reality that is not being dreamed.
You are not a being who is asleep, dreaming. That scene would be another dream. And if there is a dreamer dreaming, that one too is being dreamed. By whom? By no one, then? Yes, by no one. Yes, by you.
You wake up and a transformation happens in the dream. No, the dream does not end. But the nightmare ends. And not because the nightmarish dreams end, but because you no longer believe them. Yet everything goes on. And since nothing stops, you go on too, to the next point: Enemies.
If you are dreaming life, life is you. Everything in life is you. If there is nothing but you in life: who are you against? If you dream of a character who is against something, dramas of societies, authorities, conspiracies, ideas, religions, it becomes obvious to you that the character does not exist, but that it is you, just as the dramas are you, just as the enemies are you, just as none of these dreams is really you.
You are dreaming that you are a victim. You are dreaming a system, a world, a crook, and you are dreaming a character who fears and hates the things it dreams. You dream your fear, you dream your trauma. Even so,
Wake up, see that you are dreaming.
Wake up, see that there are no enemies.
Wake up, see how sweet it is to keep on sleeping.
